DATA TAB - CONFIGURATION WINDOW

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Data Tab is the center for massive management, maintenance and protection of information in Kardex Tauro. This tab groups three critical tools that allow you to migrate external information, purge the database in extreme cases and guarantee the survival of your information through backups.

This tab is subdivided into three sections or internal tabs: Import, Delete Data and Backups.

1. IMPORT FROM EXCEL

Allows the mass and fast loading of Products or Third Parties (customers, suppliers) to the system, eliminating the need to register them one by one.

  • Total Flexibility: It does not require templates or specific formats. You can copy data from any spreadsheet (Excel, OpenOffice, Google Sheets, etc.) directly to the Windows clipboard and paste them into the system.
  • Column Mapping: The wizard allows you to manually indicate which column of your Excel corresponds to each field of the system (Code, Name, Price, etc.), regardless of the order in which you have the data.
  • Usage: Ideal for the initial implementation of the system or for massive catalog updates.

2. DELETE DATA

It is the most powerful (and destructive) emergency and cleanup tool of the system. It allows you to selectively delete complete modules or reset the database.

  • Selectivity: Using check boxes, you choose exactly what to delete: for example, only sales invoices, only kardex, or everything including products and third parties.
  • Scope: You can limit the deletion to a specific Cost Center (warehouse) or apply it to the entire system.
  • Extreme Security: Due to its irreversible nature, the system requires:
    1. Manually enter a security code (it cannot be copied and pasted).
    2. Pass a double confirmation warning.
  • Automatic Backup: Just before executing the deletion, the program generates an automatic internal backup as a protection measure.

3. BACKUPS (BACKUP COPIES)

It is the "life insurance" of your company. This section manages the complete backup and restoration of the program's SQLite database.

  • Create Backup: Packages the entire current database into a single file that you can save on your hard drive, a USB drive or a network drive.
  • Restore from Backup: Allows you to select a previous backup file to overwrite the current database, returning the system exactly to the state it was in when that backup was created.
  • Usage: It is the only guaranteed way to recover your information in case of a critical equipment failure, data corruption or a massive human error.

⚠️ GOLDEN RULE AND RECOMMENDED WORKFLOW

The tools of Import and Delete Data are high-impact operations that can alter or destroy thousands of records in seconds. Therefore, the mandatory workflow before using either of these two tools is:

  1. Go to the Backups section and click on "Create Backup".
  2. Save the file in a safe and external location.
  3. Once the backup is secured, proceed with the Import or the Data Deletion.

If you make a mistake when mapping a massive import or when deleting data by mistake, you will simply have to go to the Backups section, restore the file you just created, and your system will return to normal in a matter of seconds without having lost anything.
