CME, B3 and the Moscow Exchange expand their cryptocurrency futures

Three stock exchanges around the world announced new products tied to cryptocurrencies between September 21 and September 23, 2026. All three go the same way: trading crypto inside the rules of the traditional market.

The first came from CME Group, the largest futures exchange in the world, based in Chicago. On Tuesday, September 22, it announced it will launch futures on Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap on October 19, 2026. Everything depends on review by regulators, the agencies that watch the market.

What a future is

A future is a contract to buy or sell something at a price set today, with delivery later on. It is used to protect yourself from price changes or to bet that the price goes up or down.

The standard Bitcoin Cash futures will be for 250 coins and the micro, smaller contracts, for 25. The Uniswap ones will be for 10,000 units and the micro for 1,000. Bitcoin Cash trades near 338 dollars and the UNI token is around 9.28 dollars.

In the first half of 2026, CME's cryptocurrency futures and options averaged 279,800 contracts per day, worth 8.3 billion dollars a day.

The second announcement came from B3, the stock exchange of Brazil. It launched bitcoin futures priced in dollars, with expiry on the last Friday of every month. Settlement is financial only: the cash difference is paid and the coin is never delivered.

The third is from the Moscow Exchange, the main one in Russia. On Tuesday, September 22, it began trading perpetual futures, which are contracts with no expiry date, on five cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and Tron. They are quoted in dollars, but the final payment is in rubles, the local currency. The exchange said Russians have already traded 600 billion rubles in earlier contracts.

Why does it matter? Derivatives are the door that banks and large funds walk through, and that entry moves the crypto market.
