In a family-run hardware store, where hundreds of screws, drill bits and tools move in and out every day, employee or customer theft is a silent threat. Many owners only notice it when a stock count reveals products that 'sold themselves'. Kardex Tauro gives you concrete tools to close that gap.
Your first line of defense is serial-number traceability. In the Add Serials window, every unit that enters inventory - a drill, a torque wrench, a meter - is recorded with its serial number. When that product leaves through a sale, the system links the serial to the invoice and the customer. If it leaves through a shrinkage record, it is tied to the cause and the responsible person. Nothing goes out without a trail.
Your second line of defense is the Shrinkage and Reductions module. There you record every loss: deterioration, expiry, damage... and also theft. By creating a shrinkage record with cause 'theft', you document what is missing, its value and who reported it. The system deducts the stock and leaves the entry in the Kardex. That traceability deters: the employee knows every unit has an owner and a destination.
For work gear (tools handed to an employee) use Loans and Consignments. The product leaves inventory but stays company property, and you can return it when the worker gives it back. Nothing gets 'lost' in the crew's hands.
The result is a business where every screw has a story. Fewer shortages, fewer suspicions, and above all fewer real losses. Kardex Tauro does not install cameras, but it does close the door through which merchandise escapes.
