In a pharmacy, a single expired batch is money in the trash and, worse, a health risk. The challenge is not knowing that medicines expire, but knowing exactly which ones and where they are before it happens. Kardex Tauro gives you real control over each batch's life cycle.
The starting point is capturing the batch on receipt. In the Add Serials window, products that handle batches and dates can record that information as part of the intake, linking each unit to its batch and expiry. The system then knows, of every box on the shelf, which batch it belongs to.
When a product reaches the end of its useful life, you retire it with the Create Shrinkage window. There you register the write-off with cause 'expiry': the system deducts the stock, leaves the entry in the Kardex and records the value lost. It is not a wipe-the-slate-clean; it is a document with a responsible person and a cause that you can print and file.
The benefit is twofold. On one hand you avoid selling something expired to a patient; on the other, you turn an invisible loss into a number you can measure month by month and, over time, reduce by buying with better lead time. In a small pharmacy, that control is the difference between working blind and working with data.
